About Cactus Leather
~The leather is made from organically grown Nopal or prickly pear cactus, and was developed by the company Desserto, based in Mexico.
~Cactus is a natural carbon sink, so absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere.
~The USDA-certified organic farm has no irrigation system, the cacti grow naturally through absorbing humidity and rain water.
~ Cactus leather saves 18,462% greenhouse gas emissions and 164,650% of water compared to
animal leather.
How it's Made

The mature leaves are harvested, leaving the cacti unharmed to enable repeated harvesting.

The leaves are ground and then dried in a solarium, saving energy use.

The dried powder is mixed with non toxic, bio-based materials to form the textile.
